The following is a poem Clara wrote when she was 11 years old. It was read by a close family friend at her Celebration of Life.
I am from a house with my two loud but loveable brothers.
I am from my cozy bed to my comfy pink pillow.
I am from the most beautiful collection of friendships to ever exist.
I am from being told to make my bed and to “Stop complaining!”I am from the fabulous green forests I love to hike in to the amazing blue skies above them.
I am from my mother turning out the light before bed and my father making me laugh.I am from the sweat of summer to the frozen fingers of winter.
I am from the magical stories of books to the special effects of movies.
I am from the old miniature park down the street that is filled with memories to the shiny new park of today.
I am from camping in small, cramped, leaky tents in the wilderness to sleeping in an amazing wood chalet on a mountain.
I am from the creamy ice cream of summertime to the yummy hot chocolate of winter.I’m from my cuddly cat to my chubby guinea pigs.
I am from the cozy house on Roe Drive to the huge three-acre house I’ve stayed inside of.I am from the foamy waves and whale watching of Tofino to the warm streets of Vancouver.
I am from my mother’s amazing athletic ability to my father’s mind-bursting discoveries. And most of all, I’m from this wonderful free country of Canada.
